To and from the airports

Are you planning a trip to Stockholm? Wondering how to get from and to the airport?

Arlanda Express, a partner of the Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network, is the fastest way into town from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. It only takes 20 minutes from the airport to the Central Station in Stockholm. It’s also by far the most environmentally friendly way. Arlanda Express has been awarded the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation’s eco-label “Good Environmental Choice”.

For the tenth consecutive year, Arlanda Express has been Sweden’s most punctual train operator (the Swedish Transport Administration).

Arlanda Express often offers discounts, especially at the weekends.

Hi! My name is Mattias Larsson and I am the project manager for Skansen’s Restaurant’s participation in the Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network.

Looking for something traditional? Visit the restaurants at Skansen, the open air museum located at Djurgården.

The place in the picture is Gamla Krogen. This café was usually only open during summer, but now you can visit all year around. Go inside and heat up by the open fire while having something warm to drink or eat. We serve hot sandwiches on sourdough bread, soups, hot chocolate and waffles, and it has been a success during this snowy, beautiful month! If you visit Skansen in Stockholm, have a coffee break, or as we say in Swedish, “fika” at Gamla Krogen! Opening hours Fri-Sun 11-15

In a city built on the water, there are naturally many spa and recreational opportunities. Try different types of hot and cold baths, have a refreshing spa treatment, or a get a classic Swedish massage. Swimming and saunas are part of Swedish tradition, so why not try some classic bath houses.

Elements spa – Sweden’s first spa inspired by the world’s oldest healthcare system, Ayurveda, has recently opened at the gay friendly Clarion Hotel Stockholm. In this exotic spa environment with its warm colors and unique design you can enjoy a massage with elements of both Indian and Swedish massage, try out pilates and yoga, float around in the magnificent pool with its glass roof or book the VIP-sauna – amongst many things.

If you are looking for that special Swedish atmosphere you should visit the Nordic Spa and Fitness at the gay friendly Grand Hôtel. The waters, islands and islets surrounding the city have inspired this fabulous spa. Feel the tranquility in the beautiful, summer warm pools or take a treatment that calms you down or cheers you up.

skiing stockholm
Yaaay! This weekend I’m going skiing in Stockholm!
Did you know that you can go skiing and snowboarding in the middle of Stockholm in winter? Hammarbybacken towers over the city’s southern suburbs and offers everything a skier could ask for, including a ski school and snowboard park.

Hammarby Fabriksväg 111

To heat up, visit GARAGE XL at Kolingsborg. On stage: From this years Melodifestival: Love Generation & Charlotte Perrelli!

It’s winter in Stockholm! When I woke up this morning the whole city was covered in snow. Okay, so you have to wear more clothes than desired, but the postcard-perfect sights are even more beautiful this way.

One of the best things I know to do this season is to see Stockholm from the water.

Seeing Stockholm from the water during the cold months is unique and at least as magical as during a high summer day. The fresh, clean air, the calm, beautiful landscape, the shifting colors of nature, and the special silence all contribute to a unique experience. Read more about boat tours in Stockholm>>

Want to stay inside?

The F12 Group has opened three new restaurants in Stockholm this year. As usual when it comes to F12 the restaurants all have different orientations and are placed in creative environments:
Köttbaren – the meat bar – continues on the ongoing meat trend in Stockholm. Köttbaren is made up of three things: a restaurant, a boutique and a bar that all specializes in meat. The establishment is located on Tegnergatan in central Stockholm.

Ever heard of plank steak? This Hungarian dish has over the year been Swedified and is now considered a Swedish classic, much like béarnaise sauce and macaronis with falukorv (falu sausage). At Villa Godthem out on Djurgården plank steak became a hit the instant the restaurant re-opened its 19th century doors. This is a perfect place to spend the winter evenings.

Miss Voon in central Stockholm is a modern restaurant combining taste from all the Asian cuisines, but with a European basis – freshness, simplicity and a distinct character in taste. Miss Voon also has a sashimibar that serves raw fish and seafood. If you’re not planning to eat, enjoy a drink at the bar.
