It’s fashion week in Stockholm! Today is the second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Stockholm and so far the shows have been amazing. Just went to see The Local Firm at Berns.

The Berns Hotel is by the way a partner of the Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network. A gay and lesbian friendly choice if your looking for a hotel in Stockholm! This chic art deco hotel has a lot to offer. Previous guests have included Marlene Dietrich and Diana Ross. One unnamed hip hop artist thought that the biggest suite was too small and therefore rented the hotels night club just to have it as a video game room…

At Berns you also find the straight friendly gay club “Kling & Paymans Glory Hole”.

Monday 30 January marks the start of three days packed full of fashion shows when the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week gets underway in Stockholm. This season, the award-winning actress Noomi Rapace will be opening the event. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Stockholm runs from 30 January to 1 February. The event will be officially opened by actress Noomi Rapace who will cut the inaugural ribbon in conjunction with the opening show put on by Altewai.Saome, winner of this year’s Max Factor Award.

Around 30 fashion houses and designers will be showing their new collections during the event, including Filippa K, Rodebjer, Tiger of Sweden, J.Lindeberg, Whyred, Lexington, Cheap Monday, Carin Wester and V Avenue Shoe Repair.

Frontman Martin Blix of Italo disco band ItaLove is openly gay and has been successful as a DJ and artist with his other band Domenicer in Sweden for years.

He, Dr Mateo, and Laroxx decided to start a band that makes classic italo disco sound but with the production of 2012. First release will be L’Amour that is not only sold on the traditional places like Itunes and Spotify, but also can be bought as a 12inch Vinyl.
In the video you can also see 3 beautiful lesbian Stockholm profiles – Jossan, Erica and Lisa from Björk bar and grill .

On the 28th of January Martin Blix will dj at one of the best gay clubs in town, Paradise Garage (Kolingsborg).  He promise to play all the hits from the 80s that we all love!

We love Sweden´s official Twitter account! Right now it’s being handed over to Swedish guest writers. The project, Curators of Sweden, involves several people describing the width and variations of Swedish life and ideas.

This week the @sweden account is in the hands of Hanna Fange, a lesbian truck driver. Follow her for a week at @sweden

“As a child, I dreamt of becoming a truck driver. Of course I had other dreams as well, like to one day being able to fly, or marrying Modesty Blaise. One out of three completed, that isn’t too bad. Apart from being a truck driver, I’m a girlfriend, a sister, and a feminist. I wish I could say that my life is really interesting and adventurous, but really, it isn’t. When I’m not working (which I do quite a lot), I … eh … OK, my life is work, my girlfriend, and – when there is spare time – friends. I enjoy life to the fullest, living my dream (’cause frankly, my girlfriend is much hotter than Modesty, not to mention the fact that she is real).

Usually I go by @lastbilslesbian on Twitter, but for one week I’ll be @Sweden. How cool is that?”

We think it’s supercool!

My colleague Christina Guggenberger has been nominated for the QX Gay Gala Awards in the category “Hetero of the Year”. She’s nominated because of the fantastic job she’s doing working to promote Stockholm as the perfect LGBT destination.

Magnus Lindbergh, VisitSweden NY and Christina Guggenberger, Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network

Openness, diversity and respect. These are the three core values necessary to attract the LGBT segment. Christina Guggenberger knows what she’s talking about, she’s been the project manager at Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network since the start – working side by side with organizations rooted in the Swedish gay community. And the result speaks for itself: today Stockholm is considered as one of the top 10 most interesting gay city break destinations in the world, according to a survey conducted by the San Francisco based organization Community Marketing Inc.

Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network started in 2005 as a project within Stockholm Visitors Board. The aim? To market and develop Stockholm as an interesting and attractive destination. – It’s gone fantastically well. Stockholm and partner products are today visible in and through all major LGBT media as well as selected travel channels, says Christina Guggenberger.

Please vote for her and make her Hetero of the Year>>

I just have to share this wonderful video I stumbled upon at vimeo the other day. It’s made by Riccardo Tagliabue “Stockhome – Random things happening around where I live.”
